J. Michael Flanagan
J. Michael Flanagan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1952. He is a 1973 cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his J. D. degree from Georgetown University Law center in 1976 and was a member of the Law & Policy in International Business staff. Mike was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1976. He is also admitted to the United States District court for the Eastern and Middle Districts as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He has tried and arbitrated countless numbers of civil cases in his more than thirty (30) years of practice. Mike has lectured on insurance and liability matters for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, Conestoga Title College and the Lancaster Bar Association as well as other defense organizations. He has been appointed by the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas to the Chairmen’s List for Judicial Arbitrations. Mike has also served the community as the longest serving Commissioner in Manheim Township, as well as service on the Board of Directors of the Lancaster Farmland Trust and Manheim Township Authority.
In 2014, Attorney Flanagan was awarded “The Lancaster Bar Association Michael G. Nast Award” in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community through the provision of Pro Bono Publico Services.
In June of 2015, Mike’s contributions towards restoration of Climbers Run to its natural state, were recognized by the Lancaster County Conservancy.
Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Land Stewardship Committee of the Lancaster County Conservancy. The Conservancy preserves natural spaces “because clean air, fresh water and wild places are vital to all generations”.
